Study Abroad | All-Scholars Mexico Study Abroad Program
|
Once you have completed your first year at
OSU you will be eligible to participate in the All-Scholars Mexico Study Abroad
Program. This opportunity begins with fall quarter enrollment in a Scholars-only
seminar focusing on Mexican studies and culminates with a 10 to 12-day trip to
Mexico. The region in Mexico visited changes every couple of years. For 2009,
students will focus on the Yucatan Peninsula. You will earn 3 credit hours for
the fall quarter course as well as 5 credit hours for the in-country experience.
For fall 2009 the focus of the course will be on ecology, tourism, and
alternative globalization in southern Mexico and Mayan Country. The travel
portion of the course will give you the opportunity to experience what you
learned in class firsthand. The trip will take place from December 12-23, 2009 and will include:
- Sites in Cancun
- The ecological park Xel-ha in Tulum
- The Mayan site of
Chichen Itza
- The cities of Vallodolid, Campeche and Merida.
The cost of the 2009 program is OSU tuition plus an estimated $2,718
program fee. The program fee includes international airfare, hotel
accommodations, breakfasts, field trips, entrance fees, group meals, in-country
transportation, and in-country health insurance. Students are responsible for
passport expenses and exit tax as well as non-group meals and personal expenses
in-country.
